SuavAir was founded in 2014 with the goal of improving safety and efficiency in the forest industry.  Since 2014 drone/UAV technology has grown and SuavAir has grown with it. All our pilots have Transport Canada’s Advanced UAV licenses and are committed to flying safely and respecting the public’s right to privacy.

Our key offerings include: Mapping, Volumetrics, and Forestry, but we also provide other drone services as well.

Colin Filliter, MBA, RPF, SAS
Operations Manager

Colin serves as Operations Manager and handles all of the flight planning and imagery collection. He first started using drones as a way to improve safety in 2014 and has since logged over 5,000 UAV flights all over the province of BC.

In 2016 he completed an MBA from the University of Victoria with a focus on incorporating drones into industry to reduce costs and increase production. Colin is an ‘advanced flight reviewer’ with Transport Canada.

Blair Hunter, RPF
Managing Partner

Blair is an innovative thinker who first visualized using drones for surveying in 2011. He handles the research and development and long-term strategy planning for SuavAir but also gets involved in the flying and data collection when things get busy.

Blair also owns HAF Forest Services, a forestry consulting business that employs 8 forestry professionals.

Gary Scriven, RFT
Project Planner

Gary has an extensive work history in both Ontario and Coastal British Columbia. Gary's long standing client relationships see him involved with a number of Forest Management related projects, with a focus on Silviculture. These basic and intensive silviculture projects include site plans, project planning and administration relating to tree planting, stand tending and silviculture surveys.

Gary's background also includes the planning and implementation of Late Rotation Fertilization Projects. He participates in auditing processes for environmental management systems including ISO 14001 and Sustainable Forest Initiative (SFI) Certifications.

Colin Pendziwol, RPF, SAS, MScF
Project Manager / RPAS Pilot

Colin is a graduate of the Master of Science in Forestry program at Lakehead University, focusing on the use of Remote Sensing Technologies in Forestry and Natural Resource Management.

Colin acts as a Project Manager, Forester, and RPAS Operator, conducting many projects and flights across Vancouver Island and Coastal BC in relation to Mapping, Silviculture, Hydrology, Wildfire, Real Estate, Environmental Monitoring and Confined Space Inspections.

René Cattet, SAS
Silvicultural Accredited Surveyor

René graduated from Selkirk college in 2017, with a diploma in Environmental Planning. He’s worked as a silviculture surveyor and forest technician on both pre and post-harvest projects throughout the interior of British Columbia. René is an accredited silviculture surveyor, currently working towards his RFT designation.

René conducts silviculture surveys and collects aerial imagery for SuavAir’s projects throughout interior BC.

Ryan Greencorn, TFT
Forester

Ryan is from Manitoba and since moving to BC in 2018, has graduated from the VIU Forest Resources Technology program and has lived and worked all over the province.

Ryan's main experience is with silviculture planning which entails surveys, site plans, prescriptions, tree planting management, and more. He's also had the opportunity to wear a few different hats in his career including working with First Nations, auditing operations and mills for environmental certifications, and conducting post-wildfire surveys.
